FirstRate is a Group 2 herbicide containing 84% active ingredient cloransulam-methyl. It is specifically designed for the control of broadleaf weeds in soybeans. It can be applied as a preplant, preemergence, or postemergence herbicide. The product is effective when applied to soybeans, but users must be cautious of iron chlorosis in certain geographic areas. For optimal results, follow specific crop rotation intervals: soybeans require 0 months, wheat requires 4 months, alfalfa/field corn/popcorn/seed corn require 9 months, barley requires 12 months, potatoes/sweet corn require 18 months, and tobacco/other crops require 18 months. When mixing with other herbicides, ensure compatibility via a jar test. Avoid application during windy conditions (speeds > 10 mph) or temperature inversions to prevent spray drift. Do not apply near water or where surface water can reach non-target areas. Always wear required PPE, including long-sleeved shirts, long pants, chemical-resistant gloves (butyl, natural, neoprene, or nitrile), and shoes plus socks.
