FOLEX 6 EC is a cotton defoliant used to remove leaves from cotton plants prior to anticipated harvesting. It contains 70.5% S, S, S-Tributyl phosphorothriothioate as the active ingredient. The product is formulated as an emulsifiable concentrate and can be applied via ground or aerial equipment. It is designed to be used when cotton bolls are mature or when the youngest bolls cannot be dented by pressure. It can be mixed with water or refined vegetable oil. For best results, it is often used in tank mixtures with Dropp™. Standout handling notes include that the product is corrosive, can cause skin burns and irreversible eye damage, and is toxic to fish and invertebrates. Users must wear specific PPE, including chemical-resistant gloves, long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and protective eyewear. Avoid applying during temperature inversions or when wind speeds are high to prevent drift. The product should not be applied through irrigation systems or to graze fields.
