CoreTect is a Group 4A insecticide formulated as tablets for use on trees and shrubs. The active ingredient is Imidacloprid (20%). It is designed for use in landscapes, forested areas, nurseries, greenhouses, and interiorscapes to control insect populations. The product provides consistent release of the active ingredient over time, with release dependent on adequate soil moisture. For best results, irrigate the plant after treatment and ensure frequent irrigation for at least 2-5 months following application. The product is intended for ornamental trees, shrubs, and plants, including non-bearing fruit trees. It should not be used on linden, basswood, or other Tilia species. When applying to containerized ornamentals, tablets should be placed 1/4 inch deep into the root ball. For established in-ground ornamentals, place tablets 2-5 inches below the soil surface near the trunk or drip-line depending on tree type. Do not apply to saturated soils. Note that this product is highly toxic to aquatic invertebrates and bees; avoid application near water or where bees may be exposed to treated residues. Resistance management is important as this is a neonicotinoid; rotate with other chemical classes to prevent resistance.
