Aquashade is an aquatic plant growth control product used to manage plant growth in natural and manmade lakes and ponds. It contains Acid Blue 9 (12.6%) and Acid Yellow 23 (1.04%) as active ingredients. These dyes work by absorbing specific wavelengths of light critical to plant photosynthesis, which helps suppress the growth of submerged plants, floating algae mats, and emergent vegetation. The treated water will retain a light aqua-blue tint. It is designed for use in ornamental, recreational, fish bearing, or fish farming water bodies. For best results, it should be applied as a pre-emergent before the growing season, though it can be applied to ice or during the growing season to suppress existing growth. When applying, the product should be dispersed throughout the water body, avoiding concentration within 50 feet of intake or use areas. Users should be aware that the product can cause eye irritation and may stain fabric or porous surfaces. Always follow specific mixing and application rates based on the total volume of the water body in gallons, liters, or acre-feet.
